Dad's BYU football challenge

Ok so this is the deal-o...

Dad is very, very excited for this football season. Can we say little school girl at Christmas time!?! So he has come up with a contest. Sounded more like gambling to me, but he assured me that it isn't. Anyone can play. Here are the rules...

1. Predict the score of each game. You can leave a comment on this blog, call us, drop by for a friendly visit or email us.
2. Pay $1.00 for each game (now explain to me Dad how this is NOT gambling?)
3. If you get the score right on then you win the pot of money (for that game).
4. At the end of the year we all will take the pot of money (what's left of it after those who have won have taken their earnings) and go out to dinner as a very large and in charge group. This means you too.
5. However, if you want to play you MUST predict the score for each game and pay a dollar for each game (12 games = $12.00). If you miss a game you can pay $2.00 for one game and predict 2 scores for that game.

I hope I am right on this. If I'm not I'm sure Dad will let me know.

Dad's latest masterpiece

I would be really surprised if the milk silo doesn't get vandalized by the end of the season. Can't beat Cougar milk though...it does a body good!

BYU womens football camp 2008

Dad decided that Mom, Rachel, Kami and I needed some woman bonding time so he took it upon himself to sign us up for BYU woman's football camp.

NOTE TO DAD: The football camp was fun, but also remember that woman also bond over shopping. So next time you think that we need to bond send each one of us with one of you many credit cards (I speak the one with the highest limit), gas up the Camry and we will be on our way.

Back to the camp...
Not quite sure we fit in. If you were there you would have noticed us as the group that sat in the back on the couches who didn't cheer or clap after EVERY WORD Bronco said. These women were psycho. Don't get me wrong we love the Y, we cheer loudly for the Y but I don't see it necessary to cheer or clap after Bronco says, "my favorite food is asparagus." Do these women see some strange connection between BYU football and asparagus? Have you ever watched the State of the Union address the the President of the USA gives? That is what it was like. Constant clapping and cheering. I can understand (to some degree) if it was teenage women or young adults cheering for a football player who had his shirt off, but these were married middle aged women. At least 50% of the attendance was between the ages of 35-85. At one point Bronco told all the crazy women, "don't clap." Awesome.

We toured the locker room and pressbox, ate dinner, listened to Bronco and the football players talk and ran drills. Here are some pics... Notice our "mad" skills. We may not be good enough to play for BYU, but we could give USU a run for their money.

Thanks for sending us Dad. We had a ton of fun and look forward to making this a yearly tradition.

picture recap of 2007

They say (who "they" are I am not sure) that the difference between the fans of the 3 major Utah universities is...
1. USU fans are happy win or lose.
2. U of U fans are happy when they win, but not when they lose.
3. BYU fans aren't happy win or lose.
Whether that is true or not I will leave for you to decide.

That being said, 2007 was a pretty good year except for the losses against UCLA and TULSA. Lucky for us we were able to redeem ourselves against the beastly bruins in the Las Vegas Bowl, although a win the first time around would have been awesome too. And TULSA! I'm not even going to go there. That game should have been won! Enough said!

Let's take a minute to recap one of my favorite moments from 2007...The UTAH (or Eww-tah) game. End of the 4th quarter... BYU had the ball on their own 12 yard line... it was 4th and 18. After what seemed like 8 hours of scrambling around in the pocket (thanks O-line) Max Hall finally finds a wide open Austin Collie down the sideline to convert. 4 plays later Harvey Unga finds the endzone to win the game 17-10. In your face Utes!

Thanks to mom and dad (season ticket holders for 28 years) the family was able to go to all the home games and some of the away games. Here are some pics from BYU games 2007.

Sorry I had to get a picture in our copper colored Chevy HHR. Awesome. Not really.

BYU/NEW MEXICO game...i think...the game was soooo boring that I don't remember. The pictures will back me up on that.Ahhh... cute mom and pops asleep on the couch.
Nate-O was so bored he ditched out on the game and fell asleep on our bed. Brandon decided that Hand Held Yahtzee was more exciting than the game. I'm surprised he didn't start texting.

Goal for this year. Get Nate to sing the fight song when we score. In 2007 we got him to STAND when we scored. That was a major accomplishment.

Good times were had in 2007 and even better times (i hope) will be had in 2008. GO COUGARS.
